^ This. I mean, I like make up. It’s not about everyone else, it’s about what makes /me/ feel good. Because sometimes it’s /nice/ to put on a mask of sorts, or pamper yourself a little, or just go ‘I like the way eyeliner looks, I think I’d like some today’. And I’m sure there’s a reason for it, but it feels so contradictory that he’s lecturing about ‘natural beauty’ while simultaneously bombarding us with images of airbrushed, photoshopped girls. 

But yeah, it annoys the fuck out of me when people talk about make up like that. I know a guy who literally said that if he could he would ban all make up, and didn’t give a shit about why I might like to wear it. Not every single choice a girl makes is because she’s been brainwashed. Make up isn’t all that deceptive, and lets be honest, if you feel truly ugly without it, it doesn’t magic away all your insecurities.

I went and watched the whole damn video. He is lecturing women on not wearing makeup. That is fucked up. Policing how women look is never okay. The fact that some “progressive” guy does it doesn’t change the fact that it is incredibly problematic to tell women what to do. Sorry, we are not infants who need mommy and daddy to dress us. We are grown ass adults who can wear whatever the fuck we want and the amount of makeup we want.

I think the main reason Kingsley was pissed off was because of how much time it took for a girl to get ready. But honestly? It takes a lot of time to look fierce as hell. People need to deal.

I sometimes put on eyeliner before I go to the gas station. Good a reason as any to put on eyeliner, in my opinion. 

I like makeup. Deal with it. 

All of this above ^^^ If someone wants to spend an hour on their makeup to go get some milk and eggs, then more power to them.

You guys are missing the point.

Yes it may make you feel good but you don’t /need/ it. Just like how cheese cake can make someone feel good, but you don’t /need/ it. 

His point is, you don’t need that make up, you are beautiful naturally and spend it on the things you need. Don’t let the need to put on a mask to hide who you really are. He isn’t saying that if you feel nice wearing it, don’t do it. Jeeze, stop jumping the gun.

You all might as well jump on people who tell you to eat better. Just, just calm down a little.

What part of that says ‘Only if you want to’? 

To quote the full video ‘in what world is it acceptable to get dressed up and put on make up to go to fucking target’. That’s pretty clear, if you ask me. Not only does he not like it, it’s simply not acceptable for someone to use make up in everyday situations. 

I mean, I’m all for natural beauty, if people don’t want to wear make up then they shouldn’t. But, I’ve never gotten shit for not wearing make up (which, happens regularly). Bringing up the fact that I’ve ever touched make up tends to get these condescending responses though.
